Jim Stephenson, DVM, CBA
Jim has been doing practice valuations and sales since 1993. He performs appraisals exclusively for veterinary practices on a regular basis for the purpose of fair market sales, internal sales, divorce, litigation, and estate settlements. His appraisal activity is both primary in purpose and also as an adjunct to his brokerage activities in veterinary practice sales. He is a member of the Institute of Business Appraisers, having been awarded their highly regarded credential of Certified Business Appraiser and is co-author and speaker on valuation and sales matters within the veterinary profession.
After graduating from Purdue in 1979, he opened and operated two veterinary practices in New England. He currently resides in southern Maine devoting his full-time attention to the customers, clients and his colleagues in the operations of Simmons Northeast. Jim received his brokerage and appraisal training from Simmons and the Institute of Business Appraisers. He is a charter member of VetPartners, where he enjoys frequent collaboration among the best in the industry, as Co-Chair of the VetPartners Valuation Council.

Joe Stephenson, MA
Located in New York, Joe is the sales manager for the New York office of Simmons Northeast. Since 2010, he has been doing practice sales and developing appraisals for Simmons Northeast, with a specific focus on serving veterinarians in New York State. Growing up in veterinary clinics as the son of a veterinarian and practice owner, he has developed personal interest in the success of veterinary business owners. As a master of philosophy he contributes a high level of analytical rigor to the appraisal and practice transition process. He is a member of the New York Association of Business Brokers, International Business Brokers Association and is an Licensed Real Estate Broker in New York. Located in the heart of the Hudson Valley, the success of Joe’s approach as a broker comes from applying the expertise and experience of Simmons with the type of personal, responsive touch in New York that only a local broker could.
In addition to his experience in appraisals and practice transitions, Joe actively speaks at New York State veterinary venues on exit strategy planning, maximizing practice profitability, and other significant topics related to practice sales and purchases.
