David B. Gerber, DVM, AVA

Colleagues have honored Dr. David Gerber for his success as a practice owner and service to our profession.  He was named the Idaho State Veterinarian of the Year for 2006.  His former practice earned a Hospital Design Award from Veterinary Econom­ics, he was the first recipient of the Small Animal Practice Award from Washington State University, and also received the George Oakshott Award for Outstanding Service to Veterinary Medicine. After completing advanced training in practice valuations, he was credentialed as an Accredited Valuation Analyst (AVA), a distinction held by fewer than ten DVMs in the nation. 

Dr. Gerber owns and manages Simmons & Associ­ates Northwest and is a trustee for the Simmons & Associates Educational Trust Fund. A licensed veterinarian in Idaho, Washington, Oregon, Cali­fornia, and Colorado, Dr. Dave Gerber earned his doc­torate in veterinary medicine in 1978 with honors from Colorado State University. He has real estate broker licenses in Idaho, Washington, and Oregon.

To share his expertise with colleagues, Dr. Gerber is a frequent presenter at veterinary conferences in­ternationally, has published articles in man­agement journals and state association newslet­ters, and has co-authored Your Veterinary Practice: Buying, Selling, & Merging.

He also gives back to our profession, having served as a chairman of the board and president of the Idaho Veterinary Medical Association as well as president of the North Idaho Veterinary Medical Association. Dr. Gerber is a charter mem­ber of the practice consultant organization, VetPartners, and serves on its Veterinary Valuation Resource Council.

Nikki Quenette, CPA, CMA

Nikki Quenette is a Certified Public Accountant, Certified Management Accountant and Certified QuickBooks ProAdvisor. Her husband is a veterinarian and, after assisting him to start a practice and working in the trenches of that practice, Nikki decided her passion is to help more veterinary business owners achieve success.  She created Quenette Veterinary Consulting to achieve that goal.

Nikki works with veterinary business owners who want to create and live their ultimate lifestyle.  She helps owners achieve this with proper financial management and time management. These are accomplished through planning, putting systems in place, testing and measuring results. All of which creates improved cash flow, increased profitability, higher practice value, and provides the owner the option to take more time off away from work.

She also is dedicated to helping the profession become more educated about the critical aspects of operating a successful business.  To that end, she is an active member of VetPartners, the leading veterinary consulting organization in the nation, serving on the Board of Directors, Finance & Budget Committee, and its Veterinary Valuation Resource Council.  In addition, she is a frequent speaker on management topics throughout the country and you will undoubtedly cross paths with her at WVC, NAVC, AVMA, AAHA, AAEP and other conferences.

As a co-owner of Simmons & Associates Northwest along with Dave Gerber, DVM, Nikki brings a whole new dimension to the services we can offer.
