The Simmons Educational Fund (SEF) honored Sara Beth Dodson, a student at the Virginia – Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine, with the prestigious SEF National Business Aptitude Award.

Sara was selected as the SEF’s 2019 Business Aptitude Award winner where her resume and a well-crafted solution to the SEF Business Case Study was a standout from the many outstanding national and international candidates.

The SEF awarded Dodson with $15,000 and an all-expense paid trip to Orlando where the award was presented at the National VBMA (Veterinary Business Management Association) meeting. David McCormick, Simmons MidAtlantic, attended the meeting and presented Dodson with her award.

“The caliber of the VBMA students is impressive, all of the candidates submitted excellent responses to the SEF Business Case Study. I am extremely proud of Sara for being selected as the 2019 Business Aptitude Award winner, and I am confident she will excel in her career as a veterinarian,” said David King, DVM, an SEF Trustee. “Once again, these students continue to impress.”

About the SEF Business Aptitude Award:
• The award is offered to a 3rd-year veterinary student at each veterinary school in North America
• Regional winners are chosen for the $3,000 award
• The SEF regional winners then go on to the SEF national competition for a chance to win $15,000
• The award program is promoted by each Simmons & Associates’ office
• Since its inception 16 years ago, the SEF has donated over $1 million to the veterinary profession

“Thank you, Simmons Educational Fund, for investing so much into the VBMA and the next generation of veterinarians. While working on my application for this award, I learned so much while analyzing the case scenario and developing the report. I am sincerely appreciative of the opportunity to apply and thank you for the generous award! The financial assistance Simmons has provided will be very beneficial as I complete my senior year of veterinary school, practice veterinary medicine, and embark on practice ownership” ~ Sara Beth Dodson
