She graduated in 2007 with the combined degrees of Doctor of Veterinary Medicine and Master of Business. Dr. Owens brings to Simmons a broad knowledge and love of the business of veterinary medicine. She enjoys practice management and implementing practice growth strategies. Dr. Owens passes on her expertise to help practice owners have a successful transition into the next step in their careers and find buyer’s the practice of their dreams.
Prior to joining Simmons, Dr. Owens had a successful veterinary career. She worked as an associate veterinary in a small animal practice for four years prior to opening a house-call small animal practice, All Pets Mobile Vet. After three years of growing her mobile practice, she purchased The Valley Veterinary Hospital in Rifle, CO. She continued to manage All Pets Mobile Vet while practicing and managing The Valley Veterinary Hospital. At Valley Vet, Dr. Owens remodeled the hospital, converted from paper records to electronic practice software, purchased a local practice’s book and merged the practice into hers, and grew the practice from a one-doctor to a three-doctor practice. Since selling the veterinary hospital in 2020 as well as her mobile practice in 2021–with the help of Simmons & Associates, she keeps her hands in veterinary medicine by working at the local shelter.
Kate has lived in Colorado for over 20 years and loves the mountain lifestyle. She enjoys skiing, hiking, mountain biking, and spending time outside with her husband Scott, daughters Riley and Parker, their dogs Blitz and Lulu, and cat Rebel.
