Improving the Veterinary Profession through Business Education

The Simmons Educational Fund (SEF) has donated more than $3 million to the profession through continuing education, sponsorships, and awards. We are committed to improving veterinary business education to meet the needs of tomorrow’s practicing veterinarian.

2024 Veterinary Student Award

Max Wunsche, a third-year student at University of Georgia’s College of Veterinary Medicine, is the recipient of the 2024 SEF Business Aptitude Award. The award this year was $30,000, one of the highest awards in the industry. Wunsche was selected based on the exemplary case study he submitted as well as on the strength of his educational resume.

“Honored to share that I was named the SEF National Business Aptitude Award winner. The Simmons Educational Fund incentivizes veterinary students to explore entrepreneurial opportunities in veterinary medicine through their annual case study, and I was fortunate enough to be selected as this years winner!

I am grateful for the opportunity and extend my thanks to all those that helped me with this project. Additionally, I will graduate veterinary school in May! I am thrilled to start my journey as a DVM and for the opportunity to contribute to this amazing profession.”
